When the Titanic sank in 1912, the world mourned. And to commemorate this tragic event, Steiff produced a black Teddy bear with eyes set against a red felt backing, to simulate the redness of crying. Very few of these bears were made, and fewer still have survived. Today, these rare bears are among the “holy grails” for any serious Steiff collector. He has foot and paw pads out of herbal-based felt (violan), his eyes are underlaid with red felt and features the distinctive ‘’Teddies for tomorrow’’ brass chest tag.

He is issued in the series Teddies for tomorrow and does not come in a collectors box and does not have a certificate of authenticity.
